Kristen Cameron, Curriculum Consultant

Kristen joined PCD in April of 2017. Kristen brings to the role of curriculum consultant two decades of post-secondary experience as a teacher, teacher trainer, curriculum developer, and instructional designer.

Kristen first joined RRC in 2005 as an instructional designer. During her time at RRC she also taught Certificate in Adult Education (CAE) courses; facilitated CAE courses in Temuco, Chile; facilitated faculty development workshops; and acted as a program officer for Distance Education. At the College, Kristen has also been a member of the RRC Faculty Development Team and Community Engagement Service Learning Project Team. Prior to RRC, Kristen taught at and developed curricula for Algonquin College. She also taught in South Korea and Mexico.

Kristen holds a graduate degree in education (M.Ed. – Organizational Studies) from the University of Ottawa. She has also completed two undergraduate degrees (B.A. Spanish and B.Soc.Sc. Political Science), and a one-year post-university teaching certificate (CTESL). Kristen has completed CVA DACUM I and DACUM II training, and has been certified by TESL Canada and TESL Ontario.

Maria Nuyda, Curriculum Consultant

Maria Nuyda has been in the education sector for over 25 years in a diverse and multicultural setting. Her experience in curriculum development, teacher mentorship and training, instructional design, standardization and quality assurance in education is what she brings to Red River College’s Program and Curriculum Development (PCD) team. She believes that the kaizen (continuous improvement) spirit defines a progressive and innovative institution. Maria holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Mathematics and graduate degrees in Educational Management and Information Technology in Education.

Her other commitments include being a core member of the Friends of Filipino Immigrants in Manitoba and a volunteer English Conversation facilitator at the Immigrant Centre in Winnipeg.

Sabena Singh, Curriculum Consultant, Intercultural/International Teaching and Learning

Sabena Singh joined the PCD team in October 2016. She has been active in the field of adult education for over 20 years as a practitioner, manager and leader. She has worked both overseas and in Canada, with culturally, linguistically and socio-economically diverse groups in a variety of settings including public and private schools, universities, community groups and non-profit organizations. She has a strong personal interest and commitment to social justice, social responsibility, sustainability, adult literacy, social and public policies in education and advocacy. She co-authored a final report, Sustainable Development and Living through Changing Teacher Education and Teaching in Manitoba.

Sabena holds a Bachelor of Education degree, a Post Baccalaureate Certificate and a Masters degree in Adult Education, all from the University of Manitoba. She currently sits on the board at the Immigrant Centre and has in the past served on Adult Secondary Education Council (ASEC) Board, Lieutenant Governor’s Medal for Literacy Committee and was the past president for Manitoba Association for Multicultural Education (MAME). She is passionate and true to her values and beliefs in providing the best educational care possible.

Kristi Dorian, Administrative Assistant

Kristi Dorian brings her entrepreneurial spirit, diverse work expertise and passion for connecting with people to her role as administrative assistant in the PCD department. Kristi has over 25 years experience working in the Manitoba education system as an ASL/English Interpreter. After several RRC contracts, she accepted a seasonal, fulltime position with the College’s interpreting team in 2008. Kristi transitioned to a RRC administrative assistant position in 2013, working in the Recognition of Prior Learning department.

Kristi also publishes a long-standing community newspaper and manages its’ vibrant website and online community – Enlighten Up with The Aquarian. In this role, she manages editors, writers and volunteers; oversees all day-to-day operations and systems; as well as graphically designs advertisers’ promotional material and the publication itself. Kristi’s dedication to quality, diversity, education and professionalism are assets to the PCD team.
